Here are some recipes for you to try. You don't need to use the pudding mix when making the cake from scratch, but if you really want to, you can try adding it to the dry ingredients when mixing the cake. You can use the rum cake glaze on any cake.

Here's a scratch recipe for chocolate cake using sour cream and rum. You can use the rum glaze on it instead of the frosting. Included in the post is an Orange Rum Cake that uses a glaze:
