14 apples peeled, cored and don't worry about dicing just get peel and core in trash. 1 tsp of cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, 1/4 tsp of ground clove, 1/2 cup of sugar, juice of 1 large lemon or 2 small. Put all ingredients into a crock pot and cook on low (or low on top of stove) over night (eight to twelve hours depending on the color of the butter) and add a dash of salt when the color and consistency of apple butter which should be dark brown are to your liking.
Can as you would any other fruit or vegetable. This will last at least 3 weeks fresh in fridge uncanned (always fridge) or use 1/4 tsp of msg if you want longer life span (six weeks). If you can it do not use msg. I do not care for MSG (monsodium glucimate) myself.
Also, if you want to make Red Hot Apple Pie which has a hint of apple butter flavor. Make a 'Your' regular favorite Apple Pie Recipe (crumb or otherwise) but before you put on the top crust,lattice crust or crumb crust, sprinkle apples with 1/4 cup of Red Hot Candies. You have just kicked up your Apple Pie Recipe a Notch, Bam!!!! Enjoy!!!
