CRUNCHY HERB WHEAT BREAD

Make 1 1/2 pound recipe with bread machines that use 3 cups flour, or make 2 pound recipe with bread machines that use 4 cups flour.

FOR A 1 1/2 POUND LOAF:
1 1/4 cups water
1 1/2 cups Gold Medal Better for Bread flour
1 1/2 cups Gold Medal whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons dry milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
2 teaspoons Fleischmann's bread machine yeast
1/2 cup dry-roasted sunflower nuts

FOR A 2 POUND LOAF:
1 1/2 cups water
2 cups Gold Medal Better for Bread flour
2 cups Gold Medal whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons dry milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
2 teaspoons Fleischmann's bread machine yeast
2/3 cup dry-roasted sunflower nuts

Measure carefully, placing all ingredients except nuts in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.

Select Basic/White cycle. Use Medium or Light crust color.

Add nuts at the beep signal or 5 minutes before the last kneading cycle ends. Remove baked bread from pan; cool on wire rack.

Note. The same amount of yeast is needed for both the 1 1/2 pound and 2 pound recipes.

Yield: 1 1/2 pound = 12 slices, 2 pound = 16 slices
