MRS. CALL'S ORANGE CAKE1 cup butter, softened 1 cup sugar 3 eggs, separated 1 cup dairy sour cream grated rind of 1 orange 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda Orange Syrup (recipe follows) Cream butter and sugar together. Add the egg yolks, sour cream, and orange rind. Beat until light and fluffy; set aside. Sift together flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Stir into the first mixture; set aside. Beat the egg whites until stiff, but NOT dry. Fold into the batter. Turn the batter into an oiled and floured (10 cup) Bundt pan. Allow to sit ten minutes. Bake in a preheated 325 degree F oven for 1 hour. Remove the pan from the oven and let stand for 10 minutes. Loosen the cake carefully around the edges and turn out onto a plate with a rim. Immediately pour hot orange syrup over the top of the cake. Slice thinly to serve. ORANGE SYRUPjuice of 2 oranges juice of 1 lemon 3/4 cup of sugar dash salt Combine the ingredients and boil 3 to 4 minutes. Immediately pour over cake.
