CHOCOLATE CHIP CAKE
1 1/2 cups Bisquick Baking Mix (biscuit mix) 1/2 cup sugar 1 egg 1/2 cup water (or milk) 2 tablespoons shortening 1 teaspoon vanilla 13 chocolate peppermint candy wafers (peppermint patties), finely chopped (1/2 cup) 15 to 20 chocolate peppermint candy wafers (for frosting)
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix all ingredients except wafers in large mixer bowl on low speed 1/2 minute, scraping bowl frequently. Beat 4 minutes medium speed. Fold in chopped wafers. Pour batter into greased and floured round layer pan 9x1 1/2 inches.
Bake about 35 minutes. Place wafers on hot cake; when softened, spread evenly over top.
