STEAK AND ONION SANDWICHES

3 tbsp olive oil
2 medium onions, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rings
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper (to taste)
4 (3 ounces each) minute steaks, or slices of sirloin
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp water
Toasted country bread

Heat half the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook onions until browned, tossing occasionally, 10 to 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper; remove from heat.

Heat the remaining olive oil in the same skillet over high heat. Season steaks with salt and pepper. Cook 30 seconds on each side; remove.

Add Worcestershire sauce and 2 tablespoons of water to the skillet, scraping up the browned bits with a wooden spoon. Return onions to the skillet; toss.

Sandwich the steak and onions between toasted country bread. Serve immediately while it's still hot.

Makes 4 servings
